Lead, Computational Design

Full-Time
South San Francisco, CA.

About Pattern Biosciences

Do you want to be at the forefront of a revolution in healthcare? At Pattern Biosciences, we build DNA computers that run molecular programs in cells to treat cancer and other diseases. Using multi-input molecular-level computation in individual cells, our approach leads to curative therapies where the conventional one drug-one target paradigm has failed to deliver effective treatments. Our headquarters are in South San Francisco, and we are building a world-class team to translate two decades of progress in DNA computing and synthetic biology into the clinic.

About the Role

Are you passionate about generating and mining life science data to guide the design of next generation therapies? In this role, you will leverage big data to lead the design process of therapeutic candidates. Specifically, you will build a knowledge base of high-throughput and low-throughput "multi-omics" data and use these large life science data sets to develop data-driven predictions of molecular inputs and molecular logic embedded in our therapeutic candidates.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead the computational design team;
  • Aggregate and analyze "multi-omics" datas ets of both healthy and diseased tissues, organs, and cells to drive the discoveryand selection of molecular disease patterns and molecular programs. You will analyze bulk and single-cell data with the focus on RNA-seq, miRNA-seq, and proteomics. We will perform non-human primate, rat, and mouse studies and analyze thesemodels alongside human data to ensure translatability to patients.
  • Lead molecular profiling efforts of bio specimens procured from internal and external sources, and play a major role in bio specimens- and data-centered collaborations with clinical partners;
  • Develop software tools for data mining and pattern identification to drive the design of therapeutic candidates;
  • Establish and manage internal IT infrastructure to manage third-party and in-house “multi-omics" datasets. Integrate this infrastructure with other workflows and systems;
  • Liaise with contractor service providers for all aspects of data generation, sharing, processing, quality control, etc.;
  • Maintain rigorous internal documentation on all data-related workflows, including standard operating procedures, raw and processed data, software tools and scripts;
  • Communicate all aspects of data mining workflows and results internally and externally;
  • Provide general input to the organization in all aspects of "omics" data mining and processing.

Who you are

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics and related fields. Interdisciplinary training in cancer biology, genetics and computer science is preferred;
  • Previous experience in bioinformatics, big data analysis, single cell sequencing and sample procurement is strongly preferred;
  • 1-2 years of industry experience is preferred but not required;
  • Track record demonstrating ability to work well within multi-disciplinary teams and deliver results on schedule and on budget.

This is an in person role based at our headquarters in South San Francisco, CA
